Theological Book Network

Theological Book Network has been growing and adapting in meaningful ways over the past couple of years since becoming a program of Scholar Leaders. While our mission of strengthening the Majority World Church by delivering high-quality theological resources to Christian educational institutions has not changed, our work has expanded to serve not only institutions in the Majority World, but also individual scholars.

As part of our mission, Scholar Leaders provides PhD scholarships to individuals pursuing advanced theological training, equipping them for a lifetime of impact. These individuals become pastors, professors, and thought leaders, shaping their churches, seminaries, and broader communities. By investing in doctoral-level education, our Leaders Studies scholarships strengthen leadership in regions where access to professional theological training is limited.

This month, we are sending several boxes of high-value books from our postgraduate collection to scholars who have recently defended their doctoral dissertations. These books will allow these leaders to jumpstart their professional journeys with personal libraries that meet their needs. This is just one example of how Theological Book Network continues to fulfill its mission of delivering high-quality theological resources to the Majority World, and how Scholar Leaders takes seriously its ongoing commitment to those in our fellowship.

Why might a box of books matter so much to these scholars? A strong library matters because it shapes how leaders learn, teach, and serve in their ministries. Most people reading this article can likely picture a professor, pastor, or other leader with floor-to-ceiling bookshelves packed with well-used volumes. This is how our pastors and leaders learn to care for those in their lives and congregations. For many of our partners, access to that kind of resource simply isn’t possible without our support. A single box of books that are needed for more specialized research can easily cost thousands of dollars. They are simply unattainable then for most Majority World scholars. That’s why making these kinds of resources accessible is so important—they equip leaders not just for today, but for a lifetime of learning and service.

Theological Book Network is profoundly grateful for the opportunity that merging with Scholar Leaders has provided. We are not only continuing to fulfill the mission we’ve had for over 20 years; we are now able to do so in more specific and creative ways than in the past. Your continued support has been a blessing to Christians throughout the Majority World in tangible ways, empowering their leaders with resources that would otherwise be unavailable.
