Suddenly grew to 70 students

It has been a year since Providence Church continued our growing partnership with Glenwood Elementary school through Hand2hand. Last year we were able to finish the school year providing food for 20 students over the weekends. This year we received some grant monies from Hand2hand in order that we might expand our reach and offer food to any and all who have a need.

This winter our program suddenly grew to 70 students and were left scrambling to fill the need for food and find the space in our building to store the food.

It was incredible to see God’s people of Providence respond!

Our facilities team went to work converting a classroom into a food pantry. Our leadership worked tirelessly to make sure we had enough food and the necessary volunteer support and our church stepped up in a huge way donating food and packing bags to fill the need. What a joy it is to see the people of Providence rally together to feed children in our community.

We look forward to continuing to grow the program and through it strengthen our relationship with Glenwood School.

Hand2hand is part of a broader partnership with the school that began with Kids Hope and has expanded with Kids Life Bible Club and Dream Big (a summer program) during the summer school program. We look forward to how these programs and the relationships developed through them will produce fruit that will last in the lives of these children and their families.
