According to Time Magazine, “eat healthier” is one of the most common New Year’s resolutions- but it’s hard to know where and how to start. That’s why Streams of Hope offers a variety of unique programs to facilitate eating well and promote a healthier lifestyle:
Cooking Matters is an interactive cooking class we offer on Tuesday mornings periodically throughout the year. Led by a professional nutritionist, participants will not only learn how better eating choices, but how to make radical changes to their eating and shopping routines.
Our Community Garden is a shared space where our friends are encouraged to grow wholesome produce. We provide the tools and land, you bring your enthusiasm, and we can build community together.
NOW Program stands for “The Nutritional Options for Wellness Program.” Similar to “Cooking Matters”, this program teaches clients how to make effective changes in their eating and cooking habits. The NOW program is specifically designed for individuals with chronic diseases that require dietary restrictions. Through this program, they have cultivated a sense of community, and recently even established a support group. They come together for about an hour every week to share fellowship in addition to their regular scheduled programming. Not only has the NOW group learned how to live a healthier lifestyle, they have also gained life long friends. Members of the NOW program have become a true family, and are always eager to make room for one (or a few) more.
