Family Worker for residents of the Roosevelt Park neighborhood of southwest Grand Rapids (and surrounding area); link families from neighborhood with Christian mentors or appropriate referrals to help with employment, nutrition, translating, interpretation, legal help, medical attention, and spiritual needs. Also provides referrals in areas such as housing assistance and immigration assistance. Also provides support to our English as a Second Language program and our free tax preparation service. The Family Worker now serves the residents of both the Roosevelt Park Neighborhood and also the surrounding area.
A recent testimony from our Family Worker, Abigail:
“The story that I have this month is with a client by the name of Ericka . I recently got in contact with Ericka when she came in into my office needing help with finding an apartment and furniture. She had heard me on the Spanish radio station and was very interested in meeting with me. When she came in she told me her situation and how she came to reside in Michigan recently and that she needed help finding an apartment and some furniture. She told me that when she heard on the radio station she had recently asked God in prayer for someone to be sent to her who can help her. She had asked for help to several people already and they were asking for a lot of requirements that she did not have.
I am happy to say that I was able to help her find an apartment and some furniture. The day that I told her that I had found her a place where she can rent and that I had filled an application for her to ge t some free furniture and that it got accepted, she was over joyed.
She told me that she felt happy and grateful that there could be a place where they can help her and where they can support her.”
