Day 3 | 3043 Devotional

PRAY: Remind me, Lord, that it is you, the Creator and my Savior, who calls me to this ministry of prayer. Let me pray out of that honor.

Comprehending our calling to the journey – Day 3

Continue to ask God to show you the people for whom you should pray.

Approaching God – You are entering the presence of your Lord. He has chosen you to participate in his plan for the salvation of humanity. As you read our mandate in the verses below, allow the honor of this calling to wash over you.
“All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Therefore, go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.” (Matthew 28:18b-20)

Listening to God – God not only gives us the privilege of bringing the good news of salvation in Jesus Christ, He also gives us guidelines to help us be effective. As you read the verses below, pay close attention to who Christ is calling you to be and what he is calling you to do.

“Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come: The old has gone, the new is here! All this is from God, who reconciled us to himself through Christ and gave us the ministry of reconciliation: that God was reconciling the world to himself in Christ, not counting people’s sins against them. And he has committed to us the message of reconciliation. We are therefore Christ’s ambassadors, as though God were making his appeal through us. We implore you on Christ’s behalf: Be reconciled to God. God made him who had no sin to be sin for us, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God.” (2 Corinthians 5:17-21)

How can we keep quiet as ministers of reconciliation when we have such great news to share!? Think about what the job of an ambassador entails. How does that translate to being Christ’s ambassador? What does it mean to be the “righteousness of God”?

Talking to God – After you are done listening, pray what you heard God say to you back to him. Is there a reason for praise and thanksgiving? Do you need to confess anything? What do you need from God? What do you need to surrender to him? Pray the verse over your three people.

Ministering in God’s Name – What a high and holy calling: to be God’s new creation, his minister of reconciliation! What a life-giving message we have to deliver. If you have never shared the gospel message, use this tool to equip you: In the back of your Bible write Romans 3:11-12 then underline that passage in your Bible and next to it write Romans 3:23, underline that verse and write next to it Romans 5:8. Continue underlining the following verses and writing the next reference by them: Romans 6:23, Romans 10:9, Romans 12:1,2. There you have it the gospel of reconciliation and how to be a new creation.

Surrendering to God – Humbly ask the Holy Spirit to empower you to grow in your capacity to be God’s new creation, his minister of reconciliation, his ambassador, and his righteousness?
