PRAY: Make space in my life, Lord, so I can welcome others as you welcome me.
Monday – Day 20
Approaching God – God is welcoming you into an intimate, loving relationship with him. Come close to God as you meditate on these words and experience the joy of being embraced as his beloved.
“For as high as the heavens are above the earth, so great is his love for those who fear him.” (Psalm 103:11a)
“I have loved you with an everlasting love; I have drawn you with unfailing kindness.” (Jeremiah 31:3)
Listening to God – Hospitality is so much more than welcoming people into our home for a meal. It is making a space in our lives for people to feel valued, appreciated, and enfolded–just like God does for us. What is God saying to you in these verses about how God can use hospitality to build a relationship with the three people for whom you are praying?
“Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit. Rather, in humility value others above yourselves, not looking to your own interests but each of you to the interests of the others.” (Philippians 2:3-4)
Talking to God – After you are done listening, pray that verse back to God. Is there a reason for praise and thanksgiving? Do you need to confess anything? What do you need from God? What do you need to surrender to him? Pray the verse over your three people.
Ministering in God’s Name – One powerful way to communicate that you value a person is to make time in your life to spend with them. Commit to inviting each of the people you are praying for to spend time with you (i.e. join you for coffee, for a meal, or at an event you both enjoy).
Surrendering to God – Surrender your time to God and ask him to give you the guidance for making space in your life for those for whom you are praying.
