When the World Comes to You

In September we opened our doors for our Fall 2024 semester of ESL and computer classes. We have over 70 people enrolled representing a dozen countries and 3 continents. God is truly allowing us to be a light to the world and we are grateful for every volunteer, ESL instructor, and intern that contribute to our RPM international community. We are helping people like Yordanys, a CRC pastor, who with his family, fled Cuba in 2022 when their lives were threatened. Secret police stormed into his home, pulled their guns and took him away while his wife and kids watched in shock.

We are offering stability, security and hope to people like Tany and Mercy Rodriguez who enrolled their 17-year-old daughter in ESL classes. They immigrated from Honduras because so many of his taxi driver co-workers were ending up dead. He said, “I didn’t want my wife to be one of those women who see their husband for the last time with a hole in his head. We have faith in God, but Scripture says, “The prudent see danger and take refuge but the simple keep going and pay the penalty.”

One of our newest students is Jazmin, pictured with her husband, José Luis. They came into our office a couple of weeks before classes started to sign Jazmin up for ESL classes. Jose Luis was sent here by his company in Mexico, and, after four months apart, he was able to bring his wife here to the States so they could be together again. She worked in HR in Mexico, and really wants to learn English so she can move ahead in her career here in the US. She confessed that without knowing English, it has been a struggle integrating into our US culture which still feels very new.

So, on behalf of them, and Emma Jean from Ethiopia, and Meylin from Nicaragua, I say, muchas gracias. Your prayers and your financial partnership with RPM are transforming lives using literacy and the love of Jesus. People are seeing our good works, and because we are a faith-based ministry, we point them to our Father in Heaven so He receives the glory.

With abundant gratitude to you and our God,

Joel B Groat
