“One of the greatest joys in my life right now…
Our Schools of Hope reading ministry where we are raising kids who were below their reading level up to two grades above their reading level…watching these kids read books…and getting excited about that.
Then they graduate. We have a graduation ceremony for them…and their parents come and…just watching their parents beam as their kids read to them. The biggest challenge is to find volunteers to continue to try and expand this ministry because…the kids who come through our church…our neighborhood is 70% Hispanic and about 40% of those are first generation and 60% of the people in the neighborhood are under the age of 18. So this a very young, immigrant community and we have more than enough kids who want to learn to read.”
