The Dock Ministries continues to experience significant growth as we serve at-risk students in the Kelloggsville School District, where the need remains great. This growth has highlighted the vital role our dedicated volunteers play in sustaining and expanding our ministry. Volunteers are truly the backbone of our programs, helping in countless ways: serving after-school meals, mentoring students, assisting with the Teen Cuisine cooking classes, guiding the Creation Club gardening program, and supporting the Cadets and GEMS programs.
It is incredibly rewarding to see the difference they make in the lives of these students, not only by providing practical support but by fostering genuine connections and sharing hope. For example, as seen in the attached picture, one of our volunteers, Norma, is teaching a student how to play the keyboard, offering both a new skill and a sense of joy and accomplishment. Another inspiring example is Paul, one of our dedicated volunteers, and his weekly boccerball game with a student named Julian. Every week, Paul and Julian seek each other out for the challenge, and Julian’s face lights up with excitement at the chance to play. Julian truly appreciates the one-on-one attention from Paul, which helps him feel seen, valued, and supported.
These moments remind us that our ministry goes beyond meeting physical needs—it is about building meaningful relationships and investing in the hearts and minds of students, empowering them to thrive. As our ministry continues to grow, so too does our need for additional volunteers who are willing to share their time, talents, and love.
