At The Dock Ministries, our Teen Cuisine program is a lifeline for many students, offering not only valuable cooking and nutrition lessons but also a chance for students to prepare meals that can make a real difference in their lives. One of our regular attendees, Zander, embodies the impact this program has on those struggling with food insecurity. Zander is an impoverished student who comes to Teen Cuisine every Monday, eager to learn how to cook and make simple, nutritious meals.
However, the real story lies in his selflessness. At the end of each session, Zander consistently asks if there are any leftovers that he can take home. He has four siblings at home, and he worries about feeding them. Without the Teen Cuisine program, there is a real possibility that Zander’s family would go without dinner that evening.
Each week, The Dock Ministries packs up a bag of leftover food for Zander to take home, ensuring that his family has something to eat. Zander’s dedication to his siblings and his commitment to attending Teen Cuisine week after week highlights the importance of our feeding programs. Without this support, Zander and many others like him would face even greater hardships. We are incredibly grateful for the continued support from Classis South, as it allows us to provide essential services to students like Zander, helping to alleviate the burden of food insecurity for them and their families.
