PRAY: Lord, I want to go about as if you were walking beside me. Show me that you are always with me.
Wednesday – Day 15
Approaching God – As you open up holy space for God to speak into your life today, let God reveal his presence surrounding you as you pray these words: “Where can I go from your Spirit? Where can I flee from your presence? If I go up to the heavens, you are there; if I make my bed in the depths, you are there. If I rise on the wings of the dawn, if I settle on the far side of the sea, even there your hand will guide me, your right hand will hold me fast.” (Psalm 139: 7-10)
Listening to God – The presence of God permeates our world and our being. However, many times we don’t even realize God himself is walking with us. We are so focused on the tasks to accomplish, the deadlines to meet and the drama unfolding around us that the beauty of God’s redemptive story at work in us seems unrecognizable. And yet God continues to walk with us, unveiling his truth and love as our lives go forward. As you meditate on Jesus’s appearance on the Emmaus Road, and also on the words of comfort and promise from Zephaniah, let God reveal to you his constant work and faithful presence in your life.
“The LORD your God is in your midst, a mighty one who will save; he will rejoice over you with gladness; he will quiet you by his love; he will exult over you with loud singing.” (Zephaniah 3:17 ESV)
Talking with God – After you are done listening, pray that verse back to God. Is there reason for praise and thanksgiving? Do you need to confess anything? What do you need from God? What do you need to surrender to him? Pray the verse over your three people.
Ministering in God’s Name – Be intentional today about growing an awareness of God’s presence in your midst. As you think about God’s presence in your life, think about specific experiences you might be able to share when God’s love quieted you, or when you thought God was absent but realized later he was walking right beside you the whole time.
Surrendering to God – As you become more aware of God’s presence in your life, remember God also walks in the midst of those you are praying for. Surrender to God any anxieties you have concerning these three people and trust God to reveal himself to them in the way they need him to.
