From the beginning we had a dream of uniquely caring for the greater community in the name of Jesus. Another one of these dreams were realized in a profound way this year. The Disability Resource Symposium brought care partners together to provide resources for individuals and families impacted by disabilities. As a free full day resource to the community, we maxed out the space in the building by filling it with over 20 care partners for people to connect with.
In addition, we involved key presenters addressing housing, navigating social security, legal and financial planning, and transportation – all focused on disabilities and their families or guardians. After public radio shared the event, in an effort to allow for as many as possible to attend (all for free), we increased the allowable guest registrations three times and finally had to close registrations. It was an amazing success.
God once again reminded us of the incredible need that City Hope GR fills. We saw Christians and non-Christians equally cared for, while clearly hearing words about the hope we have in Christ and the truth that this is why we do what we do, bringing hope only in the name of Jesus!
