PRAY: Thank you for this call to prayer, Lord. May I see the fruits of this month in my life, as well as in the lives of those I’ve been praying for.
Thursday – Day 30
Approaching God – Do we understand that we play a part in God’s plan to reach this world? Our God who is all-powerful has called us to assist him in the coming of his kingdom. What comes to mind when you read this? Maybe your primary thoughts are, “I’m not worthy, or good enough. I might disappoint God or I am too shy.” The Bible makes it very clear that God does not always call upon the popular or powerful ones. Moses was unable to speak publicly. Do not let your human weakness stop your pursuit of God’s holy purpose. Read the passage below slowly and let the words sink into your heart.
“Then he said to his disciples, ‘The harvest is plentiful but the workers are few. Ask the Lord of the harvest, therefore, to send out workers into his harvest field.’” (Matthew 9:37-39)
Listening to God – As you listen to Jesus’s words, recognize that these words are for you too. Listen to what the Lord is calling you to do. Ponder the calling to pray for others and prepare to be sent out. Listen to what the Lord is telling you to do.
“I urge, then, first of all, that petitions, prayers, intercession and thanksgiving be made for all people—for kings and all those in authority, that we may live peaceful and quiet lives in all godliness and holiness. This is good, and pleases God our Savior, who wants all people to be saved and to come to a knowledge of the truth. For there is one God and one mediator between God and mankind, the man Christ Jesus, who gave himself as a ransom for all people.” (1 Timothy 2:1-5)
Talking to God – Pray John 3:16-17 out loud for each of your three people: “God, you so loved (insert their name) that you gave your one and only Son, that if (insert their name) believes in him, he/she will not perish but have eternal life. God, you did not send your Son into the world to condemn (insert their name) but to save (insert their name) through him. AMEN.”
Ministering in God’s Name – Pray that God will give you the power to take the next step to reach out to those on your list. Send them a text. Call them and have a conversation. Invite them to coffee and shower them with God’s irresistible love.
Surrendering to God – Ask God, “Is there anything you want me to do today?” Be quiet before the Lord and listen for his gentle whisper to your heart. What do you think he wants to reveal to you?

We have come to the end of this 30-day opportunity to pray for others, but not to the end of your calling to be God’s ambassador and minister of reconciliation as well as Christ’s righteousness. Continue to pray for your three people and dream big dreams for them. Ask God to empower you to continue this practice of praying for those who don’t know Christ as Savior or who struggle with difficult life situations. Remember, “You did not choose me, but I chose you and appointed you so that you might go and bear fruit—fruit that will last—and so that whatever you ask in my name the Father will give you. This is my command: Love each other” (John 15:16-17).
