The year 2020 has certainly been a different year for VIS as we have had to think creatively about how to do relational ministry when we can no longer have church volunteers meet with people in their homes or meet face to face. Shortly after shelter in place went into effect. VIS began a “Calls and Cards” ministry and over 50 VIS friends began receiving a call one time per week and receiving cards from church volunteers to offer friendship support, encouragement, scriptures, spiritual support, and prayer. The feedback from this has been tremendous. VIS friends and volunteers and developed friendships and they hope at some time they actually get to meet one another in person.
VIS volunteers also had to be creative in ways that they are still connecting with their VIS friend.
