Christina struggled with addiction for years. Her own mother had struggled with addictions and now her children were in foster care; upon the birth of her new baby, he was removed from her care immediately because of substances found in Christina’s system. Christina was broken and she knew she had to change. Her mother, Jane, was now in recovery, stable, and living at Bernice’s House, our clean and sober recovery home for women where she served as house manager.
After Christina met with Wendy Dreese and with Jane’s encouragement, Christina moved into Bernice’s House. Addiction recovery is not always a smooth road, nor are complicated mother/daughter relationships, but Christina and Jane both worked hard to repair their relationship as well as to help Christina as she worked to remain clean and sober and to regain custody of her children.
She has been granted unsupervised visits and is working toward full custody. Jane and Christina are excited to take another big step on their path and have found new housing where they can live as an inter-generational family together with Christina’s children.
We are so proud of them and pray for their continued success!
